Review: St Eval Candle Company candles

The St Eval Candle Company is renowned throughout the UK for their growing collection of hand-finished candles with unique fragrances and styles, and now also has an enviable reputation in the use of beautiful and unusual containers. Having traded for over ten years, the St. Eval Candle Company also provide a bespoke candle making service, and currently supply many international companies including Molton Brown, Elemis, Kenneth Turner and Emma Bridgewater.

St Eval use traditional methods to manufacture candles, this includes a centuries old process known as 'drawing', which results in superior burning qualities and time. Whenever they can, St Eval uses materials from sustainable and renewable sources. They endeavour to produce as little waste as possible and all packaging is sourced from recycled materials.

Review: 'Tuca Tuca' by Gorilla Perfumers at Lush Handmade Cosmetics

I want to introduce to you Tuca Tuca (£23.00 for 30g bottle / £11.00 for 10g bottle) ... a fun and flirtatious fine fragrance from the new concept that is the Gorilla Perfumers.

The critically acclaimed and 5 star
Gorilla Perfumers are taking over Lush Fresh Handmade cosmetics this summer with their new collection of fine fragrances – to be released soon. The pre-release from this collection is Tuca Tuca and it’s sure to be the summer number one!

It’s that fun and flirtatious girl inside us all - she’s mischievous with a naughty sense of humour and an infectious giggle. She likes to dance like no-one’s watching and run through park sprinklers with abandonment, just because she can. She’s whimsical, carefree and when the sun shines just right she can go from being sweet to sensual with the bat of an eyelash.
Tuca Tuca is the epitome of how fast your heart races when your eyes meet the boy you’ve got a crush on!

Like any good summer day,
Tuca Tuca starts with a blast of fresh summer air, violet top notes accompany a rich floral feel from cassie absolute. As the sun reaches midday the warm vanilla and ylang ylang move the perfume into its middle notes and then, as the sun sets, we’re left with a slightly naughty violet leaf and vetivert bottom, the end to a perfect day!

There will also be a
Tuca Tuca massage bar (£5.00) available in the range. The fun and flirty fragrance is blended with cocoa butter and shea butter for those sensual, massage moments!

The launch also coincides with a single release of our very own cover version of Raffaella Carra’s ‘Tuca Tuca’. This fabulously catchy Italian song and dance inspired the fragrance, so we wanted to pay our own homage. Vocals are by the delectable Mira Manga, of festival favourites ‘The Duloks’, and music by English folk band ‘The Nightjar Fledglings, including musicians Simon Emmerson, Richard Evans and Liza Carthy. It’s one of those catchy tunes that will be stuck in your head forever! See MP3 file attached.

And look out for flash mobs of TUCA TUCA dancers happening in a street, train station, bus stop or any other unusual location near you!!

Marc Jacobs Splash 'Biscotti'

Marc Jacobs introduces a collection of pure, clean fragrances that evoke simple pleasures and experiences.
Lighter, fresher scents.
Pure, true colours.
Simple packaging with clean lines.
Larger sizes to be splashed on liberally and enjoyed fully.

Top Note : Orange Flower, Bergamot, Dewy Freesia
Heart Note : Mugget, Pistachio Blossom, Orris
Base Note : Vetyver, Vanilla, Creamy Musk

I love Marc Jacobs Fragrances; they have something special about them. The packaging is never over fussy but simple; and the reason for that? The amazing fragrances contained within the bottle. My favourite Marc Jacobs fragrance so far has been 'Daisy' but that was before I smelt this gorgeous fragrance. What is so unusual about it is the fact that it is one of the Marc Jacobs 'Splash' Collection. Each fragrance from this collection is based on a 'Patisserie' smell, which let me tell you are absolutely amazing!! It's so different to any other fragrance I have ever smelt. A fragrance based on a food is a very new and novel idea, but it really works. 'Biscotti' is one of those biscuits you dunk in your coffee and this fragrance incorporated all the satisfaction you would gain from dipping one in your coffee. The fragrance surrounds you in an air of comfort somehow.

As soon as I opened the bottle I was transported somewhere very dreamy. The perfume had a warmth about it without it being overpowering and unwearable. Some fragrances can be categorised by 'night' or 'day' fragrance; this fragrance can fall in to both categories. It is really, really wearable. The immediate note that hits your nose after spraying is a comforting orangey smell, which I assume must be the bergamot and orange flower. Bergamot is particularly good at releasing endorphins, so no wonder this is the ultimate feel-good fragrance. After about 10 minutes of wearing however, you can certainly smell the vanilla and a very small amount of musk.
